To protect your new furniture, we suggest the following:
Wood Finish Furniture:
Do not place in direct sunlight
Arrange your furniture away from heating or air conditioning sources
Wipe up spills promptly. Water left over a prolonged period of time will cause white spots in the finish. Alcohol, Perfume, after-shave and medicines can cause severe finish damage.
Dust frequently with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth, which has been dampened in a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Clean the surface by rubbing in the direction of the grain. Dry thoroughly using a clean, lint free cloth and then apply furniture polish.
Metal Finishes:
The metal finish of most furniture items we sell is a powder coated , heat baked, electro-static epoxy finish. In simple terms, that means that the finish is extremely durable and resistant to scratches. Some items feature additional hand applied finishes which add depth and richness. To avoid scratching brass plated finishes, wipe with a lint-free cloth which has been dampened in a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Do not use abrasive polishes or cleaners as this can cause severe finish damage.
Glass Care
Apply any good quality glass cleaner to a clean, lint-free cloth before wiping glass surface. Do not apply cleaner directly to glass surface to prevent damage to wood or metal finishes.
Upholstery Care
Care of fabric:
Proper placement of your upholstery in your environment can contribute to its life. You will want to avoid placing your upholstered furniture in direct sunlight, which can weaken the fibers, causing fading, and making it more vulnerable to tears. Also, heat vents can be a contributing factor to fabric and foam premature deterioration.
Remember to vacuum your furniture often. For a thorough cleaning, make sure to remove all cushions and draw the vacuum's crevice attachment along the edges, seams and any recesses. This will help prevent dust, as well as other debris settling into the fabric.
As your family settles comfortably into a sofa, loveseat or chair, "comfort wrinkles" will begin to develop. To keep wrinkles to a minimum, fluff and turn detached cushions and pillows regularly. While it is possible to minimize these wrinkles, please bear in mind, they are a normal part of the maturing of an upholstered piece of furniture.
Care & Cleaning of Leather:
Leather is a natural material and, when properly cared for, it will maintain its beauty and appearance for many years. It is also the easiest to care for of all upholstery materials. Each leather type has its own care and cleaning specifications, but there are some generalizations.
General Leather Care Tips:
Keep it clean. Vacuum and dust often using a crevice tool in the seams.
Though leather is resistant to fading, direct, prolonged exposure to the sun will cause any material to fade.
Keep your leather furniture away from radiators and other intense heat generators.
If spills should occur, attend to them quickly, blotting the stain rather than wiping
Do not leave newspapers on leather furniture. The ink in the newsprint will rub onto the leather. This is true for all upholstery.
Take extra care with sharp instruments and animal claws. Leather is much stronger than upholstery but will puncture with enough force, causing a need for a difficult repair.
