These may be natural substances (fluff, dirt, etc., or chemicals such as pesticides, dyes, and unnatural additives). The process is not designed to kill the dust mite directly, but to change the environment in order to prevent it from thriving. Even after many washes the microscopic cleansing process used in Medicott retains all the properties that prevent mold from flourishing. The material consequently denies an ideal environment for the dust mite.

How can we prevent the dust mite?

We can fight the dust mite by reducing moisture levels in our homes as much as possible. Although it is impossible to keep the relative humidity of our homes below 50%, we can do a great deal by regularly airing the mattress. When the mattress is dry the mold is just about inert. If you have a mattress with removable covers it is a good idea to wash the cover regularly at a temperature of 140 degrees F.

If the ticking is fixed to the mattress you can always vacuum it frequently. Chemical treatment is no longer advised in view of all the negative effects (pesticides, toxicity, allergic effects of chemicals, etc,). Moreover, chemical treatments or more natural methods are not permanent solutions. This is why the experts looked to the more permanent solution of Medicott after several years of research they developed the Medicott method.

Memory foam (also called "visco-elastic" foam) is a unique oil-based polyurethane flexible foam, originally developed in the 1970's by NASA at their Ames Research Center (located in California's Silicon Valley).  This memory foam was intended to be used to support the astronauts by relieving the incredible G-forces experienced in the human body during lift-off of their spacecraft.
